Six easy tips to get you sleeping like a baby

Follow these easy steps for the best chance of a solid night's sleep. We will get you bouncing out of bed, fully rested and glowing!

1. Removal of all your makeup

Use our CLEANSE Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm to remove all your makeup and build-up from your day, taking special care to remove all traces of mascara. This step also gives you time to massage the overworked facial muscles around the jaw and cheeks, releasing the tension of the day.

2. Hydrate and moisturise

This is the perfect time to apply the next steps in your nightly skincare regimen including toners, serums, eye creams and facial moisturisers and oils. Night time is also the best to use Vitamin A, B, C and E as they are light sensitive and are not as effective when exposed to UV rays. Vitamin A lightens brown spots, thickens the epidermis, stimulates collagen production and makes the skin look more youthful. These skincare steps will add hydration and lock in moisture to the deeper layers on the skin's surface.

3. Light a scented candle

Candlelight is extremely calming and creates the perfect ambiance for night time relaxation and preparing your body for sleep. Scented candles have some great aromatherapy benefits. Choosing a lavender scent will encourage you to unwind and relax, and lessens stress and anxiety in your mind and body. A light spray of lavender oil on your pillow has also been found to help you relax before falling asleep.

4. Turn your screens off

Turn off your TV, tablets, laptops and mobiles and enjoy some quality time away from your screens. Talk to your partner, enjoy a cup of tea or read a book. The difference you will feel will astound you! You will feel more connected and get a more deeper sleep just by making this simple change!

5. Switch up your sleep position

Not only bad for your posture and back, but sleeping on your stomach can also cause sleep lines on your forehead, and around your nose, chin and lip. Luckily the habit can be easily corrected. Use a memory foam pillow to assist you and try using a silk pillowcase. Silk is soft on your skin and doesn't absorb your skincare products - leaving it on your face, rather than in your pillow. It is also great for your hair, keeping it shiny and smooth while you sleep.

6. Check your environment

Sleeping in a room with a heater will remove moisture from the air especially in winter. Try using a humidifier to add extra moisture and reduce the temperature of the heater. Use cotton sheets and night clothes to allow for your skin to breathe and not overheat.
